Meet the Maxims

Maxims.org (formerly MAXimprint) exists to capture, convey, and cause. Our 3-pronged philosophy for clear content comes from Habakkuk 2:2.

1. Write the vision.
2. Make it plain on tablets.
3. So he may run who reads it.

Essentially, our mission is to 1. CAPTURE the vision in your heart, 2. CONVEY it clearly on every device, and 3. CAUSE your target audience to catch it and run with it!

Maxims.org is the "dynamic duo" of the husband and wife team: Jonathan & Melissa Maxim. We first met in 1993 at an InterVarsity Welcome Table in Grace Watson Hall at RIT and started serving together on campus in 1994. Four years later, we were married in Pennsylvania on the 4th of July, and we have five "Maxims"—one girl and four boys (ages 15 to 26). Since 2023, we have been serving together in the Creative Services department at Family Life.

Jon has been helping people publish their messages since before Y2K. During the last two decades, he has built over 70 websites and written over 40 blog posts. Jon holds two degrees: an Associate of Applied Science in Art & Design from Rochester Institute of Technology (1995) and a Bachelor of Science in Bible & Ministry from Lancaster Bible College (1999).

Before moving with his family to the Corning, New York area in 2004 to help start a church, Jon worked in Lancaster County as a Graphic Designer for DavCo Advertising and a Multimedia Designer for Sight & Sound Theatres. During that season, he served as an ALPHA Group Leader and a Web/Graphic Designer for his church. After relocating to NY, he helped several churches as a Wordless Book Evangelist, Resource Table Team Leader, Children's Ministry Team Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Community Group Leader, and Deacon Board Member. Most recently, Jon has been blessed to care for Christ Church PA as their Webmaster.

Since returning to the Empire State, Jon has had the opportunity to help two companies on Inc. Magazine as America's Fastest-Growing Privately-Owned Companies, serving as a Curriculum Publisher for Kingdom Inc. and a Project Coordinator for Monk Development (creators of Ekklesia 360 and Sermon Cloud). After working for Monk, Jon served as a Ministry Advisor, Marketing Manager, Blog Writer, User Guide Author, and SEO Coach for Church Plant Media for over a decade. During that season, he helped countless local churches and national gospel-centered ministries like The Gospel Coalition (TGC), 1517 (Christ Hold Fast), Converge, Sovereign Grace Churches, and The American Association of Lutheran Churches. One of his most significant projects was to help TGC rebrand, rewrite, rebuild, and relaunch 25 websites in 3 days for TGC Regional Chapters across the USA and Canada.

One of the most noteworthy seasons during that decade was from 2014–2015 when Jon served Tullian Tchividjian (grandson of the late Evangelist Billy Graham) and Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church as the Editorial Director & Webmaster for LIBERATEconnecting God's inexhaustible grace to an exhausted world, through daily blog content and resources that declared over and over again that Jesus lived, died, and rose again to "set the captives free" (Luke 4:18).

After LIBERATE's unfortunate untimely end, Jon has helped build many other websites. A few favorites include Pirate Christian Media (for the Rev. Captain Chris Rosebrough), Creationist Cartoonist Dan Lietha, and 1517 Podcasters Daniel Emery Price and Erick Sorenson, and several within the Anglican Communion, including Paramount Church for Dr. John Fonville and Always Forward for The Rev. Canon Dr. Dan Alger (Anglican Church in North America), and the Center for Reformation Anglicanism.

From 2016–2022, Jon built/managed websites and email marketing for Copper Moon Coffee, Manatee Coffee, and Hardcore Coffee. He developed and maintained their e-commerce websites with Squarespace and Shopify, published their emails with Mailchimp and Klaviyo, and built their Help Centers from scratch with Zendesk. Jon also curated and cultivated partnerships for their Reach for the Moon philanthropic ventures, primarily with Astronaut Scholarship Foundation and Make-A-Wish. Most notably, he coordinated giving 110,000+ cups of coffee to educators, healthcare workers, firefighters, and police officers via We Give A Cup.

Since August 2023, Jon has served Family Life in Bath, New York, as their Director of Creative Services. Family Life impacts lives with the message of hope found in Jesus Christ through Christian radio, performing arts, biblical counseling, and various concerts and events to spread the gospel. After over 60 years of ministry and 40 years of radio broadcasting, Family Life has plans to build a new world-class headquarters in Corning, NY, that will allow for the growth and expansion of the ministry and its regional radio network, which consists of nearly 70 broadcast signals in New York and Pennsylvania. Family Life’s new facility will host radio studios, production rooms, and general office space and have separate wings for a Center for the Arts and a Biblical Counseling Department. A large 2,000-seat Performing Arts Center will be the showpiece of the new headquarters. Melissa loves people! Growing up as a PK (Pastor's Kid), she has been part of church ministry since birth. Her heart is to give God's love to everyone she meets. In 1996, Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Rochester Institute of Technology and then served as an Administrative Assistant at Open Door Mission in inner-city Rochester. Since then, she has served in that same capacity for several organizations.

Melissa's education and experience serving people make her a vital asset and resource in all of our projects. Melissa plays a crucial role in selecting, sizing, uploading, and placing all the stock photography and graphic design elements we use for every website we build. She also migrates website content to various Content Management Systems, including pages, signup forms, and sermons, and often provides onboarding and consulting for new website managers.

While her work serving our family has kept her hands full, for 5 years (2019–2023), Melissa was a Support Specialist and Billing Assistant for Church Plant Media. She answered their 800 number, did Tier 1 website support, and managed monthly billing. However, since December 2023, Melissa has been serving alongside Jon as the Creative Services Assistant at Family Life, helping with Project Management and Graphic Design. She also enjoys spending her free time by regularly posting family updates and memories on her Facebook and Instagram.
